Dotted lines in The Gimp
Here’s a quick tip on how to draw dotted lines in The Gimp (Open-source Photoshop alternative). I stumbled upon it when I was trying to draw a cut-out line for some promotional design I was making last night.
Instructions based on Gimp 2.6.6 behind the cut!
Open up the Pencil tab. If you don’t have it docked somewhere, you can get it from Windows -> Dockable Dialogs -> Pencils
- In this menu, copy over an existing pencil, or start a new one.
- The key here is to adjust the Interspacing slider at the bottom until there’s enough space betwoon the dots. You’ll have to try this out to make sure.
- Save your pencil, and close the dialog.
- Use the pencil tool, select your newly created pencil, and draw a straight line. (Click + Shift for easy drawing)
- Voilà, dot magic!
